Let's talk about Colorectal Cancer. Not exactly a favourite subject. And it certainly wasn't a topic of interest for Ellen Walker-Matthews until she was blindsided by her son Christopher's diagnosis of the disease at just 28 years old. Christopher ultimately lost his battle just 11 short months later. But with early detection and treatment, survival rates can increase to 90%.
So, it is time to start talking and get off our respective "colons" and climb a mountain together to increase awareness of how we can better prevent this terrible disease.
The annual Giants Head Grind - Christopher Walker Memorial Race takes place in Summerland, British Columbia on the May long-weekend. In 2018, we anticipate once again having over 500 people who will walk, run or bike the over 5km, 1,500 feet of elevation from Rotary Beach to the top of Giants Head Mountain in an effort to heighten the awareness of Colon Cancer and raise funds toward early detection, diagnostics and research.
We are looking for Corporate Sponsorship support to help us climb this mountain together. We have several sponsorship options available, but also welcome sponsorship in the form of In Kind Donations of race-appropriate supplies and products.
